Recap of the Army-Navy Game

Posted: December 11, 2011 in ArmyNavy, Uncategorized

Navy’s 21-27 victory of Army had the Midshipmen chanting and waving flags the read, “decade of dominance.”

Army-Navy had their 112th meeting for the first time in the vicinity of our nations capitol presented by USAA. With all the traditions and pageantry present by nature it is an unbelievable game. If president Obama came to FedEx field you know it wasn’t for a Washington Redskins game.

For eight seasons the Midshipman came into this game with a successful past; eight straight winning seasons with a bowl game ahead. However, they have neither there 112th meeting against the Black Knights. Navy’s record of 4-7 is frustrating due to losing five games by three points or less. However, their season has ended on a positive not with a victory for the 10th consecutive game against Army (3-9).

The Midshipmen rushed for their most yards against Army since 2008, Navy finished with 296 rushing yards and attempted only three passes. TheirĀ passing yardage total was their lowest since 2007.

Although the scoreboard may have read 21-27 Navy, the Blacks Knights also came out winning with moral victory in Saturday’s game. They were able to hold the Midshipmen to a six-point victory. This “decadeĀ of dominance” now stands, which is the longest stretch of supremacy by both teams maybe next year Army can snap Navy’s winning streak.

At the end of the day this is more than just football for these men. They aren’t out here for pro football try outs, they are here to just simply play the game they love. It really is the purest form of competition and fight as it gets in sports.
