Today Washington released 12-year-NFL veteran FB Mike Sellers, whom would have made 1.45 million this year accompanied by S Oshiomogho “O.J.” Atogwe, which saves the Redskins 3.4 million in cap space.

The Redskins loaded $21 million of Cap on Albert Haynesworth and $15 million on DeAngelo Hall uncapped in 2010.

NFL Cap violations coast the the Redskins $36 million in cash and $15 million in Cap penalties.

During the presser with Bruce Allen this past Saturday he stated that the Redskins had sufficient cap space to execute their plan. However, it’s unclear whether he already had been aware of the penalty.

ImageThe Washington Redskins have released the 36-year-old full back Mike Sellers. Sellers signed with Washington as an undrafted free-agent back in 1998-2000. He then signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2001. In 2004 Sellers re-signed with the Redskins, and has been released today (2011).
